UPDATE 2 Hmm, mixed signals. TheMittani also was at the meeting. His tweet says (source):

I really hope that the first update is wrong. If not, perhaps they're both true and ship spinning/hangar view aren't returning, but the functionality will.
Personally i think the best way forward would be this:
- Dock as normal like pre-Incarna; ship spinning/hangar view are fully intact. It's not like CCP have to re-design this either so it shouldn't waste much development time.
- Now you can switch from ship -> pod -> ship like we're used to and the character is still inside the escape pod
- On the Neo-com there's a new button, called "decant" or "disembark", above the "undock" button, which when pressed fades the screen out to black and loads the Incarna engine
- The character will appear on the hangar walkway where he can see his own ship from the Incarna viewpoint (it makes more logical sense than being stood in the CQ as you've just left the ship)
- The player can then walk around the CQ and enter the other parts of the station when they open up in future expansions, just as ambulation was intended
I have no doubt that several players have already thought of this sort of thing and possibly posted about it, but it's beneficial to both CCP and the playerbase in all aspects:
- it fits in with game lore; i'm not a role player, but i have read that decanting from the pod is supposed to be an unpleasant process, so we shouldn't be doing it each time we dock
- it's quicker and easier to dock up in hangar view like pre-Incarna and never see the ambulation view in case we're wanting to quickly switch ship, pick up ammo or pick up that courier mission item we forgot to put in the cargohold before setting off the first time
- some players don't care for WIS, so why make them do it when it goes against their will, game lore, forces them onto an inoperable loading screen for 20-30 seconds or gives them the only alternative to switch it off altogether and look at a wallpaper of a door?
- it may reduce the hardware overheating issues as players will not be made to load the CQ
- it would show that CCP value the feedback of the community and respect their paying customers at a crucial time
I've been playing this game since early 2004, i've always loved it and could never really forsee myself not loving it. The :18months: issue really annoyed me, but i understood that CCP had poorly communicated their reasons for it and i accepted that a small team were dedicating themselves to the issue. But this current series of issues with NeX prices, forced ambulation, prospective P2W and MT schemes - and above all else the feeling that the playerbase has been explicitly lied to - makes me feel like i'm no longer respected as a customer. CCP want my money and they don't care how they get it.
Please change this destructive behaviour - the above steps would be a great way to show your initial intent in fixing the rift between your company and its customers.
